# CBT: computer-based tests

Marked the moment they are handed in. You will set a computer-based test from questions you already have in Word, and see how it marks itself.

## Step by step

### 1. CBT

Choose CBT from the menu. It has two tabs: your class tests, and the question bank — questions you write once and reuse in any test, term after term. Open Question bank.

### 2. Choose the subject

Pick the subject the questions are for.

### 3. Paste from Word

Press Paste from Word, and paste your questions in. Number each question, letter each option, and put a star after the right answer — the way most teachers already type them.

### 4. Add to the bank

Press Add to bank. If any question cannot be read, nothing is saved, and you are told exactly which one to fix.

### 5. A new test

Now set the test. Back on the Tests tab, press New test, give it a title, and choose the class and subject.

### 6. Time and marks

Set how long pupils have, and when it opens and closes. Choose which score-sheet column it posts to, so the marks go straight onto the report card. Each pupil gets their own shuffled paper.

### 7. Choose questions

Press Choose questions, and tick the ones this test should use from the bank. Then save the paper.

### 8. Open the test

When the class is ready, press Open the test. Pupils sit it on a phone, tablet or computer, and each paper is marked the moment it is handed in.
