Every class, its subjects, and a teacher for each. You will put subjects on a class, and give each subject its teacher.
Step by step
1Open Results
Subjects live on the Results page, because marks and report cards are built from them. Choose Results from the menu.
2Pick a class
Each class has its own list of subjects. Pick the class — we will use J S S 1.
3The list
Here are the subjects J S S 1 takes. Core subjects are taken by every pupil; electives, like the religious studies, only by those who choose them. If you adopted a curriculum on the Curriculum page, its subjects were put on every class for you — here you adjust a single class.
4Why a teacher
Each subject’s teacher is the one person, besides an administrator, who can enter its marks. Basic Science has no teacher yet.
5Assign a teacher
Open the Teacher list on its row, and choose who teaches it. It is saved straight away.
6Still there after reload
Reload the page, and the teacher is still there. Joseph can now enter Basic Science marks for J S S 1, and only this class’s.
7Add subjects
To add a subject to the class, press Add subjects. Tick any of the school’s subjects the class does not take yet.
8A brand-new subject
If the school does not teach a subject yet, type its name and a short code here and press Create — it joins the list for every class.
9Added
Press Add, and the subject is on the class.
10Remove a subject
To take a subject off a class, press the bin on its row. A subject that already has marks this year cannot be removed, so no marks are ever lost.
11Unassign
And if a teacher leaves, choose Not assigned. Until someone new is given the subject, only an administrator can mark it.
