Who can sign in, and who decides. You will see who can sign in to your school, decide on requests to join, and give staff their roles.
Step by step
1People and access
Choose People and access, under Setup in the menu. It answers two questions: who can sign in to your school, and who is asking to.
2Waiting
Waiting holds requests to join — a parent or a pupil who used a commitment key at your school’s address. Each shows who they are, and the child they say is theirs. Approve attaches them to that child; Decline, with a note, tells them why.
3Members
Members lists everyone who can sign in, by name and handle, with their role. A parent or pupil not yet linked to a child is flagged, so you can link them — until then they see nothing.
4Withdraw access
Withdraw access takes someone’s access away at once. It is a decision on record: they cannot simply ask again and be let back in.
5Past decisions
Past decisions keeps every approval, decline and withdrawal, with the note that went with it. Nothing is deleted, so you can always see what happened, and who decided.
6Staff roles
Staff roles are different. Nobody can ask to be a bursar, a nurse or an admin. A role is given from the person’s staff record: open them under Staff, and press Give a role.
7Choosing the role
Choose the role, and add a note — why, or on whose authority. It is kept on the record. That is why an administrator is always promoted by someone already inside the school, never self-appointed.
