Your own address, your own look — no web designer. You will see how to build your school’s own public website, at its own address, without a web designer.
Step by step
1Website
Choose Website from the menu. Your site lives at your school’s own address, and the switch at the top shows whether it is live or still a draft.
2Sections
Under Content, your page is a list of sections — the welcome, about the school, why choose us, admissions, events, news, contact and more. Turn sections on or off, and move them up or down.
3Example text
Open a section to write your own words. A section still marked Example text shows sample wording — replace it before you publish, so the site only says what is true of your school.
4Look and feel
Look and feel is where you choose a template, your school’s colours, the fonts for headings and text, the corners, and your logo.
5Details
Details holds the name and description that appear in a browser tab and on Google, the picture shown when the site is shared, and an optional announcement bar across the top — admissions open, for example.
6Preview and open
Show preview to see the page as visitors will, beside the editor; on a phone, Preview swaps between the two. Open takes you to the live site.
7Publishing
When it reads right, switch Publish website on. Until then, visitors see a holding page. If example text is still there, you are asked before it goes live.
